Training and Education

Since 2018, GPU has been working with local urologists and residents in the areas of lower endoscopy, urologic oncology, and laparoscopy as well as didactics.  In 2018 we performed the first laparoscopic radical nephrectomy ever completed in the country as well as some of the first radical cystectomies performed in Rwanda.  From this training, our partners in urology are able to perform independently laparoscopic nephrectomy and laparoscopic pyeloplasty, open radical radical nephrectomy as well, transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) and trans urethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
